    Just saying, I still think this is one of the best videos you've made. Love the coloring too, it's so perfect for this movie. And the song really captures the sorrow that the movie holds (even if it's subtle, the whole story always has an ever-present sorrow to me, more powerful at some points than at others).

    I love how in this video you really delve into his character and actual humanity, so many see him as flat, and as a villain, but really he holds such depth, despite his small-ish role in FOTR.

    Indy Indy Indy Indy Indy Indy Indy!! Well I think this video is really fun! You captured a side to Indiana Jones that maybe many people don't quite realize, or don't quite explore. You really captured the humor of Indiana Jones, and that was so refreshing! I love the lightness to this! It's not a typical side of Indiana Jones one thinks of, making this quite special and unique, and making it very fun to watch. I love your use of movement, and just your clip selection--you just always do such good--dare I say wise?--choices between cinematography and editing. You really make such great use of the cinematography, like when Indy and Dr. Henry are in that car with the plane right behind them! The video just has this luscious flow! Beautiful!

      I'm glad you enjoyed it, Indy is actually a suuuper funny guy...one reason why I love him... I just select clips that I think are interesting, and like when I vid Pirates n stuff, I like to select clips that are rarely used. Most of this you can credit to Steven Spielberg though, yah!

    Well I posted a comment a long time ago, but I think YT deleted it because it was too long...? Ah, they're SO nice. Anyway I can't remember what I said so here's my new comment, more general rather than specific: I can tell you love Tony so, and you get the whole purpose of Iron Man, not just the "wow he's a superhero! And I like him cuz he's a superhero which means he's cool." And I think you really got this all across in your video. Although I don't think this is one of your most breathtaking videos, I think you did a real fine job editing it. The editing was full of very short clips (as you know, you did it! :)) but yet it was not choppy and uneven which happens a lot of the time when such editing is used. Yours is very smooth and cohesive, yet the short clips do stand out, as they fit the music, and really, they fit Tony Stark/Ironman... he seems like the type who would have quicker editing. Really you captured the atmosphere of the first movie, the best of course... you really brought forth Tony-Tony, real Tony, good Tony.

    This seems a lot like a trailer--a really neat trailer, not anything like the many cheesy ones made recently! I mean this as a good thing. :) I'm just awestruck by your editing skills. I can't believe you think I'm better than you. I would never even know how to start something like this! It's simply breathtaking! The clips with the music are just--ugh! Perfect! My heart! I especially like the beginning, with the very quiet, barely audible music and Barbossa's dialogue--and all the British soldiers are ducking in the chaos of flying dirt. UGH that PART IS PERFECT!!!! You are really one of the greatest editors on youtube. Up there with Grable424 and those guys, I think. Subscriber numbers don't matter in the slightest, subscribers are all about who you know, really. I very much admire this video, it may be even my favorite of yours, because I think you very well grasp cinematography. You know how to edit something based on its cinematography. I think you just have a natural grasp of cinematography and its alliance to editing, because this is GORGEOUS.

    Oh, another thing... one of my absolute favorite parts of the video is: 1:05-1:07, with those Myrtle-death scene clips. I just love that car clip (a really good shot actually) with the sound of the music there. It's just real good placement and I get a tad bit of chills at the sound mixed with that image. Just real neat and professional. Aw, geez, this video is just COOL, that's what it is.

  • @overcomings
    @overcomings 10 років тому

    Yes, just this video I think is really deep. It really has a message, if you're the type of person to pay attention to such things, the video just seems to say, "there's a message worked within me. Can you figure it out?" Just like analyzing the book. Then, as what I usually say, the clip selections are gorgeous, you always pick the unique ones that everyone passes over and forgets about, the shots that are interesting yet other elements of the film take away. But that's an especially big compliment in this movie, for it's not very good, you know. So you were able to take clips from a not-so-great film and make it look so amazing. When watching this video, one wouldn't know that the film this came from wasn't Oscar-worthy, though I daresay the story is. Anyway, gorgeous video, I hope you understand what I'm saying, cuz what I'm feeling is kind of hard to put into words...

  • @overcomings
    @overcomings 10 років тому

    First, very quick things that were so professional and stunning and just... words cannot describe: the voiceovers (a brilliant selection and perfect placing); the editing (just had such an easy flow, and it carried you -- and the timing was really well); and the repeated scenes: Gatsby's death and Daisy in the billowing curtain room, they added a flow and a uniqueness that really sets this video apart, enhances some of the themes of the story, and I think helps creates the point of your video. What I just described all above makes this video not just a video, not just a video honoring a film, but it has a message of its own about the story, hidden deep within it, your message here is something which can be analyzed, just, oh, it's breathtaking.

  • @overcomings
    @overcomings 10 років тому

    Also, the song is very unique. At a first listen/view, one would not think the song fits with this movie at all, it's quite different than the general tone of the movie and book. But the song is actually so perfect, it's astonishingly perfect, it helps, I think, bring forth the themes that I talked of in my prior comment. The song helps make a sereneness and thoughtfulness that brings out the depths of the story.

  • @overcomings
    @overcomings 10 років тому

    I like how you captured the themes of the story, about the war, about loss, about death and destruction; you went beyond the characters and the people, but went into the story, and if someone understands the story and themes to a fine depth, like I do now, it's quite emotional and stirs the heart. That's a good video. (And I think the coloring is still pretty.)

    Wow, I was shocked after I watched this! It was so beautiful! It has such nice flow -- it just moves so beautifully. It's top-notch editing, it looks to me like beyond amateur. As usual, the clip selections were so unique and interesting. You always make such good use of the cinematography and movements, you don't stick to faces, or the commonly-used shots, they are always those real gorgeous shots that are smaller, that people forget about or don't notice. I don't even know how to start looking for shots like those. One of my favorites is of Leo jumping at 2:09. I also really liked your use of voiceovers and slow motion. And, I will again say, the movement, for it is really well-done. The flow is so beautiful, really. I don't know how you do it. I'm getting confused at how that's even possible. Literally, my brows were knitting, really, just thinking about it. The video is utterly beautiful, your videos constantly grow more magnificent. It's like the last video is mindblowing, so much so it seems it can't get much better, and then you put up a new video, and that one is even more astonishing! My goodness.

    I also like your use of slow down/speed up. They look very natural. If I didn't know the pirate movies so well, I'd think it was the actual film speed! And the slow down of the clip at 1:15, is that your own slow, or the movie's? I can't even tell! Back to the fades (& crossfades) I really think 1:53-1:57 is really superb editing! And the ending of the video! Wow, brilliant! With the shot, music end, and then the coin falling, the huge famous shot of POTC 1, WOW! Brilliant!

    • @intrinsictremblings
      @intrinsictremblings 10 років тому

      ok I'm just going to smile at you...so :) ... :D :D :D I am glad you call this "piratey;" that is always my goal when I edit potc. I try to incorporate more than just those face shot to face shot clips that most romance vids do. It's a nice break when a shot or two includes no people at all. Well I sped up about 20 frames, then allowed the rest of the clip to flow, in most spots. But sometimes I slowed down too to differentiate them better. You seem to understand editing very well, but I rather think you praise my vids too highly :) Kind or generous or thoughtful or blah blah blah are too plain of words to describe your praise of me :)

  • @overcomings
    @overcomings 10 років тому

    Yes, it seems SOOOO pirate-y, and yet at the same time, it has an emphasis on the Jack-Elizabeth-Will conflict -- it has an emphasis on both and I think that is very original and more entertaining -- kind of takes that bit of the movie, in a way, though maybe with a bit more stress on the love conflict. ;) There is that freedom of pirates, like the flag, the gold of the gold, the treasures... all so nice.

  • @overcomings
    @overcomings 10 років тому

    I like how you (mostly, and most notably) used the first movie -- and I think you pretty nicely captured the tone of the movie, in video-version. :) It seems real naturally "pirate-y." It really matches the idea of plunder, silver, gold, and a "pirate's life for me." It's WEJ, you say? Because it's nice that you kept that conflict, like with quotes and certain clips, but at the same time you kept the pirateness of the movie. This isn't your typical Will/Elizabeth/Jack video. Many of the typical Sparrabeth and even Willabeth clips (like in the jail 2nd movie) you didn't use, setting this video apart. Yet you always do things like that, don't you? :) You always find the most beautiful clips that other people don't even see!

  • @overcomings
    @overcomings 10 років тому

    First, I will start out with, your fades are absolutely beautiful. They are really smooth and clean, long & short -- and the short fades add a real flow to your video. I like watching those quick fades, thinking "how did she do that?!" Your coloring is really beautiful too, and your quality looks un-pixel-y. I wish you would help me with my colorings...!
